I firmly believe that staying curious and proactive is key to personal and professional growth. Embracing new challenges not only enhances my competence but also fuels my confidence. It's more than just adding certificates to my portfolio; it's about embracing the journey of learning and adapting in this dynamic tech world.

Be proactive and take initiative: Take online courses and attend webinars. Read blogs and books about QA. Get certified in relevant QA areas. Volunteer to take on new challenges. Seek feedback from your manager and peers. Stay up-to-date: Learn about new products and technologies. Attend industry conferences and events. Network with other QA professionals. Contribute to open source QA projects. Write blog posts and articles about QA. By demonstrating your willingness to learn, you show your manager and peers that you are committed to your career and eager to take on new challenges. This can make you a strong candidate for promotion.

In my opinion and from my experience, the best way to show your willingness to learn is to be actually learning. One should be training in top international training companies, getting international certificates, be subscribed to latest news, trends, updates of the community, be really interested and know latest trends and updates, read and know and use the classics, the basics of the profession using books.

If your team doesn't already have mechanisms for generating regular peer/manager/report feedback, consider trying to implement one. If your team performs retrospectives, submit discussion ideas that will elicit feedback from peers as well as managers.

leading a specialized team can be challenging, especially if you were a peer and are now in charge. Be humble, ask your team what they need and expect from you. Spend a couple of weeks observing and then based on their needs and expectation, revisit the conversation with your expectations and use them to create a partnership. Be willing to learn form your team as well, this creates trust and buy in.

Let me start by saying that it is very difficult to get real feedback. People just don't like to give feedback. They have the fear of judgement. In place of this, please show people that you've tried this, you got such results and now you are stuck in a situation. People generally like to help, rather than giving feedback.

Ask for feedback, observe the people who refer to your team and your context and let them guide you..., learn, learn and learn and remember Cervantes: "It is well-born to be grateful"

This is a crucial aspect I encountered in my situation. As you improve your skills in this industry, the organization will assess your contributions at the company level. I engaged in competitions, attended tech talks, and participated in various workshops. This is how I increased my visibility and earned extra points for my promotion evaluation.

As Admiral Grace Hopper is famously quoted "It is easier to get forgiveness than permission." Throughout my career (now retired) I fostered openness with the operating groups. When something went "a little" off kilter, they were comfortable discussing it with me. In that way, I could be sure that there was an understanding of any QA aspects which might be involved in resolving the issue. And so, executive management often found that when things were reported to them, they found QA (me!) was already involved in setting things right. Talk about learning new things! That was built in! And I was partnering with the people doing the work! My contribution was QA; their contribution was deep business and technical knowledge. It worked!

For me, showing your willingness to learn is to take new responsibility on the project or outside the project. Taking part in extra activities in your company - conduct tech interviews, tech talks, meet-ups, share your knowledge with the community, and gain new skills out of the box. QA is not only about testing, you can assure quality on different levels of implementation - business analysis, automative process, infrastructure part, development, security/performance review, process management, etc. Show your willingness to learn different things, it doesn’t mean that you need to do everything - at least you can try to get experience in a large field of technology and see what you are up to.

Find a mentor, and then mentor someone else. If someone knows more than you, do not let your lack of skills in that area hold you back. Find the right person, whether it's inside your organization, in the community online societies, meet-ups, or groups, and let them guide you, challenge you, and then give you the room to grow.

One of the ways to take on new challenges is to be open-minded when approaching opportunities for improvements, discussing the problems with the impacted people since they can often present the best solution.

One of the lesser discussed areas of quality is engagement. It is our function to ensure that the QMS is both understood and usable by the operations teams. So it is important that while ensuring the quality standard is maintained that we keep learning how to engage operations staff, and learn how to communicate well. Since quality staff are often from technical backgrounds the ability to relate is not always highly developed.

Open yourself about the new challengs of the field not only at your work, try to stay active in the community of QAs and specially try to find a way to always help the new persons in the field and get more advanced advice form the old ones, get into communities of the languages and frameworks that you work with and participate of they discussions about improviments.

Internal and External Customer Satisfaction! This is something which is obvious but often overlooked compared to updating ones skills and staying relevant. 1. Make sure you understand your client, their business, what they are trying to achieve. 2. Understand that a problem that might sound very similar will have its unique perspective for different Customers 3. Design a solution that will resolve/ improve the existing issue/situation. 4. Educate the Customer as required as you are hired for your expertise. Do this with demos, show them case studies 5. Stand with the Customers in their ups and downs and eventually get them to succeed. 6. Give your 100% and results are bound to come to you. Cheers!

The most efficient way to learn for me was to learn from external audits. Understand what the auditors / inspectors are requesting, how they are used to see the systems and always being open to see if our system could be improved with the feedback received.
