I like to focus on communication, and by that, I mean not only regular check-ins to follow up on work but also integrating team members and supporting a sense of belonging. As a manager, you need to be very open to communication, avoid distractions during calls with remote team members, and emphasize the importance of work-life balance to avoid burnout! It is very easy to stay at work much longer than expected when working remotely.

I’ve seen firsthand how remote work can impact team dynamics during remote projects. To boost morale, I found that creating a sense of shared purpose is key. Start by clearly communicating the “why” behind the work and how it aligns with their individual goals. Regular virtual coffee chats or informal check-ins can also do wonders for maintaining human connections. People often underestimate how much casual conversations contribute to team cooperation. And, of course, don’t skip celebrating wins, whether big or small! Acknowledgment goes a long way. Remote doesn’t have to mean distant.
