How do you measure the impact of your neighborhood clean-up efforts?

Indeed, visual surveys are one of the best ways to assess impact of clean-up efforts. We conducted weekly clean ship drives onto our nearby beach for around 2 months. The beach was beautiful, but the waste scattered around used to spoil the experience. For initial few weeks, this task was tiresome but slowly we started getting volunteers on the beach to support us. Segun mi experiencia, es bastante senzillo, si las calles estan limias hay una buena gestion de los residuos, si las calles no estan limpias, la gestion es pesima, ahora mismo aqui en el pais donde resido hay una gestión pésima, pero hay que decir que en los barrios ricos, la gastión es impecable, eso significa, que el gobierno tiene muy en cuenta el estatus social, aqui la mayoria de gente quema sus residuos, sin importar nada sus consequencias, falta una gran concienciación y reeducación del ciudadano, pero el gobierno es el responsable del bien estar de todos los ciudadanos no solo de unos pocos.

This data can also be used to decide numerous other things like the fleet size, manpower, waste collection points and storage points, requirement of recycling plants and their capacities etc

Rivers are very prone to unorganized waste disposal and have huge environmental impacts. In one of the initiatives a river which was filled with waste and had bad odor was cleaned after lot of efforts. Walkway and park were developed alongside riverbank and boating was also started. This not only had huge environmental impact but also gave employment opportunities to numerous local residents.

This is a funny question. I serve on my town's environmental advisory commission, something we in plastics recycling and sustainability should do. There I rail against people who do not design programs and materials to educate people on litter and the impact of litter on the environment.
