Credentials has to be stored in a centralized vault from where the bot can access irrespective of the environment (DEV, UAT etc) and make sure these are provisioned during execution In my opinion, storing credentials in a file can also leads to credential theft. So, it is recommended to store the actual credentials in the vault (AWS, Azure etc) and just call the vault name in the configuration file If you're doing automation in your machine and there is no secured vault to maintain, then it is good way to utilize the Windows Credential Manager Don't blindly choose any cloud application to store your sensitive information. Check the type of encryption it supports.

The way to enforce RBAC is to grant access based on responsibilities of each member within the team. RPA platforms have default roles which can be extended based team needs. For instance, UiPath orchestrator offers admin , robot and personnel workspace roles by default. The role determines what users can see and which actions they are allowed to take within UiPath Ecosystem. Business users should be assigned the minimum level permissions that allow them to view the list of bots and to run the jobs in case of attended bots but also to rerun those jobs that resulted in exceptions. RPA Developers however, are involved in all phases of RPA lifecycle and should be assigned the role that allows them to perform all the tasks along the way.

4 Apply data masking techniques

A fourth way to secure data in the RPA development phase is to apply data masking techniques. Data masking is the process of hiding or replacing sensitive data with fictitious or anonymized data, while preserving the original format and functionality.
