I like the vernacular that there is more than one way to skin a cat. Functional training corrects spinal irregularities, enabling clients to perform fundamental movements correctly and apply strength effectively. Start a discussion with your staff allowing participants to present alternatives to basic movements. Now we can analyze and make a discussion and come to conclusions and agreements about the best alternative for a particular client, since every client is different.

Resolving conflicts in a functional training program starts with active listening, aligning on shared goals, and embracing diverse perspectives. By fostering open communication and focusing on the best outcomes for clients, collaboration turns challenges into strengths.

1. Negotiation skills are very important in resolving conflicts especially between teammates that are "pros" or perceived experts in their field. 2. Be sure to establish an open and inclusive environment and encourage respect between team members. 3. Openness and flexibility are necessary when resolving conflicts in cases like this. One must be willing to compromise and open to trying new things or seeing from new perspectives.

If discussions start going in circles or become heated, I suggest bringing in a neutral person to mediate. This keeps the conversation productive and helps us find a resolution faster. I believe it’s crucial to agree on shared training objectives and put them in writing. This minimizes misunderstandings and ensures everyone is aligned. I actively seek input from all team members to make sure everyone feels involved. This way, we can continuously refine and improve our program. With this approach, conflicts are usually resolved quickly, allowing us to focus on what really matters—creating a strong and effective training program.

Listening is a Art that most seem to lack. When working with professionals I always keep that as my point of focus. First: To listen and better understand the individual ideas shared. Second: To give respect and understand that those sharing the ideas are pros like myself. With that we can agree to disagree and resolve any conflicts that arise as we create.
