Consider incorporating unique segments or features into your podcast that make it distinct. This could be a recurring segment, a special sound effect, or a catchy jingle. These elements create a sense of familiarity and identity for your show. Good podcasts thrive off good stories. It's as simple as that. And by good stories, we mean ones that are genuinely interesting to listen to because of the way they're told. Good storytelling will retain listener attention, and increase the chances of listeners coming back for more.

Having a community around your podcast is key to building a loyal listener-base for years to come and will help grow your show as well. How you treat the members of your community matters. First impressions are huge. The best thing to do is publically welcome them somehow. Engage with them and encourage them to share about joining. Have other members engage and welcome them in. Helping people find their place, they're belonging, and letting them know it's a safe space that YOU (the podcast host) prioritizes will ensure that it's a great onboarding for new community members.

Building a podcast community is all about making new members feel like VIPs. Greet them with a warm welcome, get them engaged by asking for their thoughts, and actually respond! Offer cool perks like exclusive content or sneak peeks. When members feel seen and valued, they’ll become your biggest fans, helping to grow your community!

This is my headspace right now. I feel the need for more support for podcasters and I believe a thriving community with intentional 'programs' will go a long way. Podfade is a real thing and for the industry to truly grow as the predictions state, the podcasters (especially independent ones) doing the work and providing the content and ideas need to thrive in their passion. So yes! Community building is a must and to make podcasters feel welcome in these spaces there should be intentional value and opportunities for genuine connection and support.

I do my best to give them a personal welcome, share my gratitude and personally invite them to community events and discussions. It's important to me to make sure they feel seen and heard.
