Your team is stuck in a rut. How can you inspire them to think outside the box?

If your team is stuck in a rut, go back to basics: Put your customers and your employees first, no excuses. Have your employees talk to the customer directly and let them experience the users' perspective firsthand. Break down barriers to communication. Let employees see the impact of their work quickly. Streamline process and simplify deployments (CI/CD). No one left behind. You have to have your employees' backs. Every day isn't going to be 110%. Allow flexibility. If you do this, they'll remember. Lastly, encourage experimentation. Invest a day and plan a hackathon. Set aside formalities and let people across job functions collaborate. Let ideas cross-pollinate and people meet.

Team building activities bring creativity and a "tribe" mentality. These activities bring life to the average work day especially when they are "surprises" to everyone involved. Keeping things fun and fresh is critical to the happiness of those we work with. Getting out of a "rut" is sometimes all we need. You must ensure every second of every day you are ensuring you are as relaxed and happy as possible. Do not, for a second, think about going outside, clearing your mind, or any other such thing; you must focus, entirely, on being relaxed

If they're stuck in a rut and struggling to think outside the box, it might help to actually take them outside the box. Close the laptops, exit the office. Take the lift up from the basement, go outside. Touch grass, breathe the air. Be outside the box. You are free. GLaDOS has no power here.
