The Architecture Skills Framework is a tool that defines the skills and competencies required for effective enterprise architecture. It covers three dimensions: architecture roles, architecture skills, and proficiency levels. The framework defines six core architecture roles: Business Architect, Data Architect, Application Architect, Technology Architect, Solution Architect, and Enterprise Architect. Each role has a set of skills that are relevant for performing the architecture tasks and activities. The framework also defines four proficiency levels for each skill: Novice, Intermediate, Skilled, and Master. The proficiency levels indicate the degree of knowledge, experience, and autonomy of the individual in applying the skill.

In the Architecture Vision Phase, you can use the ACMM and the ASMM to align your architecture vision with your business strategy and objectives, while also using the Architecture Skills Framework to assign roles and skills to stakeholders. During the Business, Data, Application, and Technology Architecture Phases, you can use the ACMM and ASMM to guide your architecture design and modeling processes, as well as ensure that your architecture deliverables meet quality standards. The Architecture Skills Framework can also be used to monitor and evaluate the skills of your architecture team. In the Opportunities and Solutions Phase you can use these models to prioritize solutions and projects, while in Migration Planning you can use them to define a transition plan. Finally, in Implementation Governance you can use them to oversee implementation of solutions and projects, while in Architecture Change Management you can use them to monitor performance and value.
