As they get deeper into finding and refining the solution, things tend to get technical and the people involved get bogged down in the details. In my experience, founders who are successful, spend time capturing their purpose early on - develop a "big picture" view of how a world with their solution will look like (of course, this will evolve as their business evolves). When times are rough, this helps everyone to stay focused and also excited.

Defining and using scalable as well as absolute accountability metrics can keep performance in perspective. Consider a company growing from serving 50,000 clients to 100,000 clients: the company's absolute impact (i.e. CO2e) may increase, but impact per client (i.e. C02e/customer) may decrease or remain constant. Being able to provide twice as many clients with a climate-conscious solution might be of far more net positive impact to the planet, even if the absolute impact of your company appears slightly higher.
