Professor Allison Ouimet will be recognized for her exceptional contributions to Canadian psychology and honoured at the CPA’s 2018 Award Ceremony at the International Congress of Applied Psychology, taking place in Montreal on June 26, 2018.

This professorship will take Professor Best to the University of Sheffield’s top-ranked Politics and International Studies Department and the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) for the first four months of 2019.

All disasters are not created equal. Traffic accident victims, for example, face better odds when collisions occur in dense urban areas close to major hospitals. In far northern and remote rural regions, ambulance crews may have less training and specialized care is likely farther away. But getting prompt medical attention, within the “golden hour,” is key to saving lives.

Most Ontarians want to die at home, but despite this nearly 70 per cent die in hospitals or long-term care facilities. A new study from the Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences (ICES) shows end-of-life care like doctor house calls or in-home palliative care could reduce the chance of dying in hospital by about 50 per cent.

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada has announced funding for two University of Ottawa professors as part of its Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) Program. Karin Hinzer and Daniel Figeys will each receive $ 1.65 million for their mentoring and training programs to prepare the researchers of tomorrow.
