Meet the new vice-president, research

The University of Ottawa has just named Sylvain Charbonneau vice-president, research, a position he has held on an interim basis since last July. He is the third vice-president, research, in the history of the University, after Howard Alper and Mona Nemer.

Fellowship to provide grad students with valuable museum experience

A new fellowship will give University of Ottawa graduate students a unique opportunity to access three national museum collections — at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum — to enhance their research.

Research chairs roundup: the University of Ottawa recognizes top scholars

Last fall, to cap off a year of distinction in research, the University of Ottawa was awarded four Canada Research Chairs from a namesake federal program that invests about $265 million a year to attract and retain top scholars. In addition, the University granted University Research Chairs to four professors in recognition of their exceptional research accomplishments and solid teaching records.

Researchers working in the arts, social sciences and humanities at the University of Ottawa have received more than $8.7 million from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Mentoring and training programs by uOttawa professors get a boost

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada has announced funding for two University of Ottawa professors as part of its Collaborative Research and Training Experience (CREATE) Program. Karin Hinzer and Daniel Figeys will each receive $ 1.65 million for their mentoring and training programs to prepare the researchers of tomorrow.
Polanyi prize winner blends computer science, chemistry and biology

Today Dr. Lavallée-Adam was awarded the Polanyi Prize in Chemistry by the Ontario Ministry of Advanced Education.
Mona Nemer named Canada’s top scientist
