Aboriginal Resource Centre

Welcome

The Aboriginal Resource Centre (ARC) works closely with all university faculties and services to develop initiatives that support and benefit First Nations, Inuit and Métis students. We provide services that support your classroom, career and personal needs in a manner consistent with Aboriginal culture and values. We also promote strong working relationships with government agencies, as well as with Aboriginal communities and organizations to enrich your student experience.

Students that self-identify as First Nation, Inuit, or Metis can register with us in person to access our resources and services. This way we can add you to our mailing list to receive special announcements of events, job postings, reminders of scholarship deadlines, and many other opportunities. While we welcome walk-ins, appointments can be made either in person, by phone, or email.

Principles on Indigenous Education

In light of the recent findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), Universities Canada, representing 97 universities across Canada, released its Principles on Indigenous Education.  This announcement is a commitment to support the findings of the TRC, close the education gap, and strengthen the Indigenous student experience throughout the academic process.  Universities Canada Principles on Indigenous Education can be found here.

Aboriginal Education Council

The University of Ottawa Aboriginal Education Council serves as a resource on all subjects relating to education of the University’s Aboriginal population. It also serves as a vital link to Aboriginal communities in matters dealing with academic research on Aboriginal people or issues and seeks to build cultural awareness in the university community.
