Professor Elizabeth Sheehy Receives Governor General’s Persons Case Award!
Professor Elizabeth Sheehy is among the six recipients of the Governor General’s Awards in Commemoration of the Persons Case for 2017. The awards honour outstanding Canadian women who have made exceptional contributions to gender equality and quality of life for women in Canada. Professor Sheehy will receive the award at a special ceremony at Rideau Hall on October 19. One day prior, on the anniversary of the Persons Case, she will be honoured by Informed Opinions, at a special event recognizing women’s voices in public discourse.

Professors Daimsis and Pavlović featured in new Commercial Arbitration Guide
Faculty of Law, Common Law Professors Anthony Daimsis and Marina Pavlović have contributed a chapter to a new book entitled A Practitioner’s Guide to Commercial Arbitration. The book is published in English through Irwin Law, and is edited by Marvin J. Huberman.

Professor Dodek Receives Insight Grant for Project Exploring Heenan Blaikie and the Legal Profession
Common Law’s Professor Adam Dodek has earned an Insight Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for a 5-year project entitled “The Rise and Fall of Heenan Blaikie LLP: The Past, Present and Future of the Canadian Legal Profession”.

Professor Stewart Elgie Receives SSHRC Partnership Grant for Large-scale Green Economy Initiative
Common Law’s Professor Stewart Elgie has received a prestigious $2.5 million Partnership Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities research Council (SSHRC) for a 7-year project entitled “Greening Growth Partnership: Connecting Research with Policy for an Innovative, Sustainable Economy”. As Project Director, Professor Elgie will team with 33 co-applicants (including Common Law’s Nathalie Chalifour and Jeremy de Beer), 14 collaborators, and 46 partner organizations to undertake the project.

Prof. Foucher Receives the Ordre des Francophones d’Amérique!
Professor Pierre Foucher has been awarded the prestigious Ordre des Francophones d'Amérique by the Conseil supérieur de la langue française for his contributions to the preservation of the French language in North America. He has been selected as the 2017 representative for Ontario.
