Spring runoff and flooding
Here is an update on the measures taken by the University concerning the heavy flooding and emergency conditions affecting the Eastern Ontario and West Quebec. Students and employees should follow developments through their uOttawa email accounts or the University’s social media pages.
We understand that this exceptional situation is affecting the University community and we thank students and employees for their understanding and flexibility.
Students
The University of Ottawa continues to monitor the situation closely. Some students and professors directly affected by the flood are still experiencing difficulties and the University continues to offer its full support.
While authorities are working at completely resolving the situation, classes for the Spring-Summer term are being held. We encourage you to use public transit and to exercise extreme caution in your commute.
We remind you that if you are experiencing an exceptional situation or are in urgent need of assistance, please contact your professor(s) or academic unit.

Employees
The University of Ottawa continues to monitor the situation closely. Some students and staff directly affected by the flooding are still experiencing difficulties and we will continue to offer our full support. We remind managers to show understanding and flexibility.
We ask all employees to be at work starting Wednesday, May 10. While the authorities are working to implement solutions to reopen the main routes, disruptions may still occur. If so, please plan your travel route and act with caution. You can also discuss with your manager the possibility of adjusting your work hours to avoid travelling at rush hour.
We strongly encourage you to use public transit and carpooling to facilitate travel.
If you are experiencing special problems, please contact your work unit to assess your options.
Affected employees
The University’s offer of housing for employees directly affected by the flooding remains open. Employees who have been, or may be, affected can receive housing assistance if necessary. Contact Benoit Séguin of the Housing Service at 613-762-6883.
