The Incentive Program supports student growth through participation in skill development workshops. These workshops are designed to help students develop academic skills and studying strategies. The Incentive Program encourages students to participate in activities and workshops that will help them become better academic learners.
You gain an incentive by attending one of our workshops in person or online.

Incentive Program Participation Policies
If you are participating in CSAS Study Skills workshops as part of the Incentive Program, here are some important policies to be aware of:
Course Requirements for Workshop Attendance: Any CSAS study skills workshops (both online and in-person) can count towards the Incentive Program. However, your professor will indicate the number of workshops you need to attend and any additional specifications you will need to receive your incentive marks. Please ensure that you meet your specific course requirements for workshop attendance. For instance, your professor might specify that only certain workshop topics count for Incentive in that course. This information can typically be found in your course syllabus.
Attendance: When you attend a workshop in person you must sign the attendance form. You must remain for the duration of the workshop. The workshop facilitator will ask you to present your student identification at the end of the workshop to verify attendance. If you leave before the end of the workshop, you will not receive credit for the Incentive Program.
You cannot attend the same workshop twice for the same course and have them both count towards the Incentive Program.
Workshop Completion: You must complete the workshop in the same term that the course is registered for the Incentive Program. For example, if a course is registered for the Incentive Program for the Winter 2016 term, the workshops must be completed within the Winter 2016 term as well.
Incentive Program Online Workshops Requirements
- You must complete each component of the workshop and receive a 100% grade on the final assessment to receive any credit for the Incentive Program. You can see if you have completed the whole workshop and check your grade by choosing the “Grade” option on the left hand side of the workshop page in cuLearn. If you see a score below 100%, please go back and complete the assessment again until you receive a grade of 100% for credit in the Incentive Program.
- There are seven CSAS online workshops available through cuLearn that qualify for the Incentive Program. They are:
- Academic Integrity
- Academic Reading
- Learning Preferences
- Note-Taking
- Test & Exam Preparation
- Time Management
- The Online Workshops must be completed in the same term as the course that is registered for the Incentive Program. For example, if a course is registered for the Incentive Program for the Fall 2016 Term, the workshops must be completed within the Fall 2016 term as well.
