Teen Programs

Adventures offers a variety of summer camps, enrichment courses, and workshops for teens who wish to gain hands-on experience in the fields of science, engineering, or technology.

Get a better understanding of what university life is really like by completing projects in one of our many labs.  Design a 3D model and print out a prototype in our Makerspace, investigate microorganisms in our microscopy lab, or build a robot in our robotics lab!   
 

*NEW* Wearable Technology Club for Girls and for All 

Targeting girls and boys in grades 7-10, this bilingual educational initiative provides a great introduction into various technologies such as: 3D printing, laser cutting, and Arduino programming. Taught by engineering students, these Saturday clubs will give students the opportunity to design a wearable device using electrical circuits, Arduino and other devices. Each Saturday the teens will work on different components of their wearable project.

The clubs are offered in two different settings, the Wearable Technology Club for all and the Wearable Technology Club for girls. Please note that the curriculum is the same for the Club for girls and the Club for all.

Language:
All clubs are offered in a bilingual setting

Grades:
Grade 7-10

Dates:
Every Saturday from February 4th - April 1st inclusive

(with the exception of March 18th, due to March Break)

Hours:

Wearable Technology Club for All 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (FULL)

Wearable Technology Club for Girls 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. (FULL)

Location:
The drop-off and pick-up takes place inside the main entrance of the SITE building at 800 King Edward Avenue.

Cost:
$100 (for the fall session of 8 clubs), payable by credit card online.

*New* Indigenous Innovating Engineering club
 

Designed for Indigenous students in grade 9-12, this educational initiative will be offered at the Gloucester Highs School as a new pilot program during the month of November and December. This program  provides a great introduction to various technologies such as: 3D printing, laser cutting, and Arduino programming.  Over the program, students will work on a different component of a project designed to improve upon a community issue as well as learn and apply the steps of the design process.

Summer Programs

TeenSci
grades 7 to 8 (grade completed)

Complete microscopy, dissection, 3D printing, circuitry, and chemistry projects in real university labs.

TeenTech
grades 7 to 8 (grade completed)

 Try your hand at a variety of hands-on technology projects like Arduino programming, circuit design , Wii and Kinect interface hacking, coding, 3D modelling/printing and much more.

Enrichment Courses
grades 9 to 11 (grade completed)

These enrichment courses mix a variety of lectures and laboratory projects in order to mimic the undergraduate experience firsthand.


Free Facilities

uOttawa Richard L'Abbé Makerspace
Invent–Design–Build in the new uOttawa Richard L'Abbé Makerspace.  Open to the public on Sundays, take advantage of the variety of equipment on-hand such as 3D printers, CNC Mills, Arduinos and many more.  Workshops and use of equipment are free of charge.
