What is the Difference Maker program?
The new Difference Maker program offers University of Ottawa students the opportunity to identify and act upon their vision for creating positive change.
This program introduces a wide range of extracurricular activities and workshops meant to teach creative problem-solving skills, foster innovation and entrepreneurial action with a strong emphasis on the development of sustainable solutions, products, services and organizations.

A Difference Maker is a doer; a person who thinks positively, takes action and creates impact.
If you have an idea, want to solve a problem, launch a business or want to make a difference, then this program is for YOU!

The Program is an engaging and effective way to:
- Inspire and empower you to create positive change on campus.
- Connect with other like-minded students.
- Discover new and innovative ways to solve concrete problems.
- Improve your entrepreneurial skills through hands-on workshops.
- Build your own start-up idea to solve a societal issue.

The program launch will features a panel of guest speakers discussing various societal issues (refugees, aboriginal community and more). Join us on:

The Difference Maker program, inspired by a similar program at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, offers a range of workshops that help students make a difference in the world:
- Feb.4, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Workshop-Ideation
- Feb.11, 11:30- a.m. 1:00 p.m. - Workshop- Triple
- Feb.23, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.- Speaker Panel
- March 1, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Workshop-Business / Model Development
- March 7th 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. - Validation Workshop
- March 15, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Feedback Workshop
- March 22, 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. - Dry - run Workshop
- March 31, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Final presentations
During the program, students will get organized into teams to further develop their social innovation idea. By March 31st, students will have the opportunity to present their solutions to a panel of judges and potentially receive monetary prizes and awards!
