Jeff Saikaley (LL.B. 2001) and Andy Scott (LL. B. 2004) are among the 2016 awardees of “Forty Under 40”. Forty Under 40 is one of the most sought-after and distinguished business awards in the National Capital Region. It is jointly organized by the Ottawa Business Journal and Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

Professor Jeremy de Beer has been awarded the Canadian Association of Law Teachers (CALT) 2016 Prize for Academic Excellence.  The award honours exceptional contributions to research and law teaching by a Canadian law teacher in mid-career. 

Professor Rakhi Ruparelia has won the Canadian Association of Law Teachers (CALT) 2016 Award for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning for her article “Guilty Displeasures: White Resistance in the Social Justice Classroom” (37:2 Dalhousie Law Journal, 2014).

Professor Craig Forcese and his frequent collaborator Kent Roach, of the University of Toronto, have been awarded the Reg Robson award, given annually by the B.C. Civil Liberties Association to honour substantial and long-lasting contributions to the cause of civil liberties in B.C. and Canada. This is the BCCLA's longest standing and most prestigious award. They have also been awarded the Canadian Law and Society Association's annual Book Prize for their 2015 book False Security: The Radicalization of Canadian Anti-terrorism.

We are thrilled to announce that Professors Jeremy de Beer, Rakhi Ruparelia, and Craig Forcese were all recognized with prestigious national awards over the weekend of May 28-29, 2016!

Professor Jena McGill is the principal investigator on a project entitled “Emerging technological solutions to access to justice: opportunities and risks of mobile and web-based apps,” which has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) under the Knowledge Synthesis Grant competition.  Professors Suzanne Bouclin and Amy Salyzyn are co-investigators on the project.

Canadian Lawyer has released its list of nominees for the 2016 “Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada” honours.  Among the record 160 nominees are 11 individuals from the Faculty of Law.  

The former Ontario Premier visited uOttawa to deliver a conference on leadership.

For the second time in five years, students from the University of Ottawa have won the prestigious top prize at the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot.
