Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) enhance plant’s ability to extract nutrients from the soil and are widely used as bio-fertilizers to improve plant yield in organic agriculture. The genetic system of these organisms has long been obscure, hampering our ability to produce new strains that are more optimal for our green economy. A study led by the laboratory of Nicolas Corradi has finally unlocked their genetic secrets, opening new avenues for AMF strain improvement and their environmental application.
