Technology Partnerships
TTBE (in partnership with other technology transfer organizations) catalyzes the establishment of new technology partnerships to further develop and commercialize University (and affiliated hospital) technologies. Highlighted below are some of the commercial and pre-commercial technology partnerships established using technologies from the University of Ottawa and affiliated research institutions:

uOttawa, TTBE and Ottawa Technology Transfer Network
Recognizing the complexity of successful technology transfer and commercialization, the University of Ottawa began working with its colleagues across the region with the establishment of an NSERC Intellectual Property grant with Carleton University from 1999 to 2002. Sufficient progress was made that TTBE was established as a signature office in 2002/03.
From 2002 to 2005, TTBE worked with affiliated offices at the Ottawa Health Research Institute (OHRI) and the University of Ottawa Heart Institute as part of an NSERC-CIHR-SSHRC Intellectual Property Management (IPM) grant. This liaison resulted in several collaborative technology partnerships (see table above) including the establishment of a $6M Community Based Investment Fund (CSBIF).
In March 2005 OHRI and UOHI were awarded a CIHR Intellectual Property Internship award that will involve training a recent MBA graduate in technology transfer from medical research. The new position will begin in September 2005 and run for one year. In May 2005, TTBE was awarded an IPM grant to establish the Ottawa-Gatineau Innovation Alliance with Carleton University, Algonquin College and the Université du Québec en Outaouais.
TTBE is also an active member of ACCT Canada (Alliance for Commercialization
of Canadian Technologies), AUTM (Association of University Technology Managers) and the Licensing Executive Society of Canada.
