uOttawa Maker Mobile – Creativity on the go
uOttawa Maker Mobile links
As part of its outreach program, the Faculty of Engineering is proud to present Ottawa’s first-ever Maker Mobile, now available to come to your community!
The uOttawa Maker Mobile is a Makerspace on wheels; traveling from location to location on a full-time basis, it carries equipment such as 3D printers and scanners, laser cutters, and Arduino microcontrollers. Using the latest technologies, the Maker Mobile delivers fun hands-on learning activities to schools, libraries and community centers across the region, complementing the school curriculum. Our goal is to encourage creativity, problem-solving skills and interest in technology among everyone in the community. Through our workshops, we aim to reach at least 1000 kids in the National Capital Region from September 2015 to June 2016.
Kickstarter crowd funding campaign
Currently, we are sharing equipment between the Richard L’Abbé Makerspace and the uOttawa Makermobile and that is not sustainable. We need to purchase equipment dedicated to the Maker Mobile to ensure quality service. We plan to use the funding for two things: upgrade/invest in more equipment for the Makermobile and deliver workshops across the community. The uOttawa Makermobile will become self-sustainable if it is booked on a full-time basis. This is why we need your support to reach that stage.
So please support us and book your workshop today via our Kickstarter crowd funding campaign!
With your help we will get this truck on the road.
