Biography
Professor Patrick Dumond received his doctorate in mechanical engineering from the University of Ottawa in February 2015. He has since continued to teach and do research in the same field.
Dr. Dumond’s research interests include the modeling of orthotropic plates, with attachments, using energy methods, the development of inverse eigenvalue methods for vibration system design, musical acoustics, as well as the manufacturing and analysis of the mechanical properties of wood. Dr. Dumond shares a great interest in the teaching and reinforcement of fundamental principles for students in engineering. He also promotes experiential learning in design. For these reasons, he is the faculty advisor to the University of Ottawa Supermileage team. Through his teaching and his extracurricular activities, he is interested in exploring design of systems using failure mode analysis.
