StemCore Laboratories

StemCore Laboratories is a high-throughput genomics facility within the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), and is a core facility of the University of Ottawa. StemCore Laboratories is developing a world-class infrastructure for genomics, bioinformatics, and proteomics, and is capable of facilitating large-scale scientific research and biotechnology projects. Stemcore Laboratories seeks out projects that are challenging, cutting-edge, extend the boundaries of biological knowledge, and will positively impact the state of human health.

Holiday Closure 2015:

Stemcore Facility will be closed for holidays from Dec 18, 2015.

We will resume on January 4, 2016.

 

Illumina/StemCore User Grant Proposal - Deadline extended to Nov. 17th!

Call for proposals: 

Illumina and StemCore Laboratories are providing a unique opportunity to support a next generation sequencing-based research project using Illumina reagents. Illumina will provide up to $10,000 worth of Illumina Reagents and StemCore will provide labour and basic analysis at no cost.  Application deadline is November 17th, 2014.  Please see Application form and Illumina Price List for details.

APTAMERS and the state of the technology.
The Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) and NeoVentures Biotechnology Inc.(www.neoventures.ca) are hosting a one hour web conference/webinar about APTAMERS and the state of the technology Friday, March 15 at 1:30 PM EST. NeoVentures has been the first company globally to commercialize aptamer based diagnostics.
With an aptamer-based diagnostic platform there is no need for the maintenance of recombinant cell lines, and antibody production schedules. Aptamers can be chemically synthesized at a commercial scale within a week enabling true on-demand inventory control.
The webinar will cover:

  • Strengths and weaknesses relative to antibodies

  • Considerations for aptamer based diagnostics
