Highlights

  • In 2014, 74 prizes and honours were received by UOttawa researchers: 38 national prizes, 18 provincial prizes, 9 international prizes and 9 from other regional or internal sources.
  • Women are honoured: in 2014, 40% of the prizes and honours were won by women. This represents a 3% increase compared to the preceding year.
  • Early career researchers stand out: in 2014, 46% of the prizes and honours were received by early career researchers who obtained their PhD in the last 15 years.
  • In 2015, the University of Ottawa obtained a remarkable success rate for the Ontario Early Researcher Award: 1 in 4 nominations was successful, for a total of 11 laureates for this prize, of which more than a third are women.
  • Every year, we offer training on how to prepare nomination dossiers for prizes and honours to faculty members. 

Mandate

The Office is committed to advancing the University’s reputation as one of Canada’s top research-intensive universities.  RCCA works closely with Faculty Vice-Deans, Research and Research Facilitators and the CEOs and senior managers at our affiliated medical institutes to create strong nomination dossiers for research chairs as well as for award and recognition opportunities for our researchers to highlight their research innovation and excellence.  RCCA also works in collaboration with Faculty Deans and Vice-Deans, Research for the creation of faculty research centres and institutes and subsequently with the Directors of these units for their growth, function, and evaluation.
