Longer healthier lives: uOttawa to house the International Longevity Centre of Canada
The International Longevity Centre of Canada and the University of Ottawa are proud to announce that the Faculty of Health Sciences will house the first and only International Longevity Centre in Canada (ILC Canada) and join the worldwide International Longevity Centre Global Alliance (ILC Global Alliance). This internationally accredited policy organizationis a member of a multinational consortium that focuses on the potential for members of societies to live longer, healthier lives.

Pioneering health care, one decade at a time
Marie-Claude Thifault, associate professor at the School of Nursing, is also the editor of a collection of essays on the history of health services in Quebec and Canada brought together in Lincontournable caste des femmes: Histoire des services de santé au Québec et au Canada. The book, published in 2012, was a finalist for the Prix du Canada 2014 en sciences sociales. To mark National Nursing Week, May 12 to 18, 2014, the Gazette spoke to Professor Thifault.
Lecture to celebrate the Journée internationale de la Francophonie
The University of Ottawa is pleased to celebrate the Journée internationale de la Francophonie that will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014. This year, the annual lecture presented by the Collège des Chaires de la francophonie canadienne de l'Université d'Ottawa in partnership with the CNFS, will be given by Hélène Salette, inf., M. Sc. Secretary General of the Secrétariat international des infirmières et infirmiers de l'espace francophone and entitled: "Le réseau international infirmier de langue française (SIDIIEF) : un historique, une vision, des défis."

Bringing the beats to reproductive health
Recent studies have shown that reproductive and sexual health problems affect youth significantly, yet youth are missing from the debate on these issues. Jillian Gedeon, a masters student in health sciences, believes the answer lies in artivism, combining art and activism, and using music and dance to get important messages across. And so she recorded a rap about the importance of family planning.
