Teen Programs

Adventures offers a variety of summer camps, enrichment courses, and workshops for teens who wish to gain hands-on experience in the fields of science, engineering, or technology.

Get a better understanding of what university life is really like by completing projects in one of our many labs.  Design a 3D model and print out a prototype in our Makerspace, investigate microorganisms in our microscopy lab, or build a robot in our robotics lab!

Summer Programs

TeenSci
13-16 years old

Complete microscopy, dissection, 3D printing, circuitry, and chemistry projects in real university labs.

TeenTech
13-16 years old

Try your hand at a variety of hands-on technology projects like Arduino programming, circuit design , Wii and Kinect interface hacking, coding, 3D modelling/printing and much more.

Enrichment Courses
14-17 years old

These enrichment courses mix a variety of lectures and laboratory projects in order to mimic the undergraduate experience firsthand.

Free Facilities

Makerspace *NEW*
Invent–Design–Build in the new uOttawa Makerspace.  Open to the public on Sundays, take advantage of the variety of equipment on-hand such as 3D printers, CNC Mills, Arduinos and many more.  Workshops and use of equipment are free of charge.

High School Workshops

Are you a high school teacher who is interested in booking an engineering workshop for your class?  Look no further!  We offer a variety of on-campus workshops for just $25 each, per class

3D Printing
Participants will be introduced to 3D computer modelling and get the chance to print their designs.

Arduino
Students will learn about micro-controllers by programming an Arduino board and controlling its various inputs and outputs (lights, motors, household appliances, etc).

Green Engineers - Solar Energy
Using hand-on experiments, students will study the operation of solar cells in a solar panel and construct circuits that include a solar panel to operate various devices.

Programming/ Natural Language Processing
Students will learn about information retrieval and question answering systems.  They will also learn how to build automatic systems that summarize texts

Robotics
Using the Lego MindstormTM kits, students will work in groups of three to construct, program, and test autonomous sumo-wrestling robots.

Mechanical Engineering
Using a variety of tools in the machine shop, students will be guided in the construction of their very own tool box.

Chemical Engineering
Students will perform experiments related to the study of heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid flow, measurement, and material balances.
