Tracking Protection Working Group

The Tracking Protection Working Group is chartered to improve user privacy and user control by defining mechanisms for expressing user preferences around Web tracking and for blocking or allowing Web tracking elements. The group seeks to standardize the technology and meaning of Do Not Track, and of Tracking Selection Lists.

Carl Cargill (Adobe), Justin Brookman (CDT) and Matthias Schunter (Intel) serve as co-chairs of the Tracking Protection Working Group. The W3C Team Contact is Nick Doty.

Call for Comments has ended

On Thursday, April 24, the Working Group published its Last Call Working Draft of the Tracking Preference Expression (DNT). The Call for Comments on the specification ended on June 18. We thank everyone, who has submitted technical reviews and comments. All feedback is publicly archived. The Chairs and the Working Group will issue written responses to all comments received in the upcoming weeks.
