ISSUE-123: Template Syntax Lacks Clue and Experimentability
Template Syntax Lacks Clue and Experimentability
- State:
- RAISED
- Product:
- CSS3 Template Layout
- Raised by:
- David Hyatt
- Opened on:
- 2010-05-07
- Description:
- The current template syntax doesn't give newcomers a clue as to what it's about, and doesn't provide a good place for adding vendor prefixes during experimentation.
Hyatt had one suggestion:

Alternately, instead of a new property, the template bits could be encased in a template() function. - Related Actions Items:

Related notes:
Another option is to insert a temporary, vendor-prefixed keyword. That way the final syntax is not encumbered. E.g.:
display: "a b c" -xyz-;
position: a -xyx-;
