We've provided updates on a selection of projects. These updates reflect information collected primarily in January 2014.
New Student Housing System (Kx Suite)
- Project manager:Denise St. Jean
- Objectives:Replacement of an in-house mainframe housing application. Self-serve application for students to set housing preferences and pay for deposits online.
- Update:Phase 1 (student self-service) went live in December and there have already been 160+ applications for housing to date.
Windows XP Project
- Project manager: Jonathan Gualtieri
- Objective: Gather the inventory of Windows XP computers across campus and plan for the upgrade/replacement of the soon to be unsupported operating system.
- Update: We are currently gathering data from the IT community in advance of the end of support date. We will then work with faculties and services to make sure that machines running Windows XP do not give rise to vulnerabilities on our network.
MPE – Internal Program Change
- Project manager: Jennifer Lambert & Robert Sawler (collaborative effort)
- Objective: It had been identified that students asking to change from one program of study to another were receiving different level of services across the faculties due to varying standards and polices. In alignment with the student experience mandate of Destination 20/20, CCS had been asked to participate in the optimization of the program change process.
- Update: A common set of policies and business rules were established and an online request form was implemented. As of February 13, 2014, 1,080 requests had been processed since the inception of the new change process in mid-January. Handling the change requests has been greatly simplified and student line ups at the faculties have been reduced.
