SciencePages

SciencePages is an initiative of the Partnership Group for Science and Engineering (PAGSE). SciencePages aims to increase discussion on topical issues that have science and engineering at their core by summarizing the current state of knowledge and policy landscape. The notes are non-political and non-partisan.

Each issue of SciencePages engages a team of three interns with backgrounds in science/engineering, policy or communications. Interns are provided with a unique training opportunity at the science-policy-communications interface and a chance to develop an enduring network of individuals with interests and skills in the integration of science and policy. The notes are reviewed by scientific and policy experts in the field.

Through working together on the publication, the SciencePages team contributes to bridging the gap that divides scientific and engineering expertise from policy-makers.  This knowledge mobilization activity simultaneously provides training in science policy and communications to students and young professionals and informs decision-makers and other interested parties.

In its role as a partner on SciencePages in January 2012, the ISSP provided editorial expertise, research assistance and advice on topics covered in Chemicals and Toxicity.  The ISSP also provided SciencePages interns with workspace as well as access to the Institute’s and the University of Ottawa’s research resources.
