Welcome to the Department of Biology

Our department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology; Ecology, Evolution, and Behaviour; and Physiology and Biochemistry. We also participate in exciting interdisciplinary degree programs including Environmental Sciences, Biopharmaceutical Sciences, and Chemical and Environmental Toxicology.

The state-of-the-art laboratory facilities within the Biosciences Complex offer an unparalleled experience to our undergraduate students. The Biology Department is the home of CAREG, the Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Genomics; a multidisciplinary institute mandated to study the effects of environmental disturbances on biological function.

• Keith Seifert has renewed his Alfred P. Sloan Foundation grant, a 2-year US$600,000 grant which will allow his team to build a database of fungi present in our indoor environments and to understand how they interact with each other and with humans.
