The new wireless network in residence buildings

How do I access the wireless network?

  • Choose your operating system and follow our detailed instructions.
  • Login credentials required to access uOttawa’s wireless network are your student number and uoZone/InfoWeb password.

Where can I get help to set up my laptop or device for wireless access?

  • You can go to the Montpetit Lab Computing Help Centre (Montpetit Hall, room 140) during regular business hours.

Who do I contact if the wireless network isn’t working, or if I have problems with the network?

To consider:

  • Desktop PCs - If your network card doesn't support Wi-Fi, you will need a Wireless USB Adapter to connect to the wireless network. Wired Internet service will only be available at a later date.
  • Routers - You do not need to buy or bring a wireless router. Internet in residence is provided by the University's wireless network.
  • Personal printers - You will need a USB printer cable to use the device.
  • Gaming consoles - Consoles that support Wi-Fi connectivity should be able to connect to our wireless network (Resonet).
  • Apple devices - The following services are not supported on the University's wireless network:
    • AirPlay / AirPlay Mirroring
    • AirPrint
    • Time Capsule backups (through Wi-Fi)
    • iTunes (Wi-Fi syncing only)
    • Network sharing (iTunes music, etc.)
    • AirPort Express / AirPort Extreme connectivity
