Here is an update on Tracking Protection Working Group progress:

• This week the group published new drafts of Tracking Compliance and Scope and Tracking Preference Expression (DNT).
• Today Chair Matthias Schunter announced a stable plan to reach Last Call.
• We are poised to announce new co-Chairs, replacing Peter Swire who announced last month his departure for President Obama’s Review Group.

With a concrete plan and a full set of Chairs, the Working Group is set to proceed to Last Call with renewed momentum.

I mention this today because the DAA has announced their withdrawal from the Working Group. I hope that DAA continues to monitor this work. As they see progress and momentum, they should rejoin W3C’s consensus process.

W3C will continue to provide updates about Working Group progress.

2013-09-18 Update: We have announced the new Chairs!
