Computing Facilities
The University of Ottawa offers state-of-the-art computing facilities to its students.
At the Faculty of Engineering, students have access to several facilities:
- the Computing Facility in Colonel By Hall (CBY)
- the Computer Lab located in SITE 0110 – be sure to check the schedule
- Instrumentation Labs located in Colonel By and SITE - be sure to read lab information and check the schedules
Online Documentation is available to help you:
- create your Faculty of Engineering account or change your password
- check the teaching labs schedule for the current and next session
- generate your lab account
- understand the lab environment, hardware and software.
- use the Faculty’s email system (restrictive use)
- use the Faculty’s printers
- understand the Faculty of Engineering's Unix hosts
- take advantage of the Faculty of Engineering's web and network services
- learn about the Subversion (SVN) repository system
- use certain software applications
- download the Microsoft DreamSpark Premium bundle of development software for free (formerly MSDNAA)
- download Microsoft DreamSpark at no charge.
- download VMware Academic Program software for free

Log into SquirrelMail which is a standards-based webmail package written in PHP. It includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols, and all pages render in pure HTML 4.0 (with no JavaScript required) for maximum compatibility across browsers.
