This office oversees the administration of the many facets of research on campus, ensuring the efficiency and the effectiveness of the considerable investment represented by this work. This responsibility includes funding, equipment, and facilities, but above all a fundamental respect for the value of people—the expertise, talent, and imagination that breathe life into each and every endeavour.

Vice-President, Research

Mona Nemer is the University of Ottawa’s Vice-President, Research since 2006 and a researcher in molecular biology.

Dr. Nemer has a PhD in bio-organic chemistry from McGill University. Prior to her arrival at the University of Ottawa, she was Professor of Pharmacology at the Université de Montréal, Director of the Cardiac Development Research Unit at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal (IRCM), and a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Cardiovascular Cell Differentiation. At IRCM, she also served as Director of Academic Affairs and Executive Director of Planning and Development.
