Future of public services at the heart of uOttawa debate

Federal representatives Pierre Poilièvre (Conservative Party), Mauril Bélanger (Liberal Party), Richard Nadeau (Bloc Québécois), Paul Dewar (NDP), and Jean-Luc Cooke (Green Party) discussed public service issues at a debate hosted by the University of Ottawa and its Department of History, in collaboration with Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) on April 26, 2011.

The debate, entitled Election 2011: the Future of Public Services, was of particular interest to voters in the National Capital Region, where public service employees and their families account for a large proportion of the population. The event was broadcasted on Rogers Ottawa and webcasted in real time, making it accessible to Canadians from coast to coast.

Don Newman, one of Canada’s most eminent political journalists and chairman of Canada 2020, a non-partisan forum dedicated to the social and economic well-being of Canadians, acted as moderator for the debate.
