Hundreds of students expected to visit uOttawa campus during summer orientation

The Student Academic Success Service (SASS) is happy to be welcoming hundreds of future University of Ottawa students as part of the University’s second-ever summer orientation program. Tina Lamontagne, coordinator of uOttawa’s transition program and the person responsible for organizing the summer orientation days, says each of the half-day sessions provides future students and their parents with important information and advice about first-year university studies and an overview of the various student services available.

Students who start their studies at the faculties of Art, Science or Social Sciences in September can get a sneak preview of university life, learn about some of the services they’ll have access to and discover the many resources available through their faculty. They can also take care of things like picking up their student card and confirm their course registration…well in advance of the fall rush.

Summer orientation came about in order to help create a better overall experience for students—one of the goals the University set for itself in Destination 20/20, its new strategic plan. Orientation gives new students a chance to get answers to their questions and the opportunity to get familiar with the campus and all it has to offer. Students who are worried about things like finding their way around such a large campus, the many changes in store for them or whether they’ll do well in their courses will leave feeling reassured and excited about the big day!

For more information, including the calendar of orientation sessions, or to register, visit the summer orientation website.
