The annual Campus Campaign

We have the means to ensure the University’s success and therefore its employees’ success.

Faculty, staff and retirees: get involved!

Update on the Campus Campaign: Campus Campaign already has an overall participation rate of 12%.  Visit the Campus Campaign website to see how each faculty and service is doing.

The annual Campus Campaign is an opportunity for faculty, staff and retirees to come together for one common cause — to improve our campus community. Through this unique initiative, individual faculties and services can imagine a project — one that resonates with their group, that will have an impact on our community and that they wish to make a reality.

For example, the Student Academic Success Service (SASS) Financial Aid Fund aims to provide financial assistance to students registered at the University of Ottawa who have physical, emotional or health disabilities. You can support this project, a project in your faculty or service or support an existing project that benefits our campus.

The active phase of the Campus Campaign runs until April 30, 2012. From now until then, volunteers will personally approach faculty, staff and retirees to ask them to make a gift. However, the Campus Campaign is a year-round effort, so gifts can be given at any time. All new employees will be asked to contribute to the Campaign as a way of creating a sense of belonging at the University of Ottawa.

“We’re in the midst of challenging economic times,” says Claudio Brun del Re, director of Physical Resources, chief architect at the University of Ottawa and this year’s staff co-chair of the Campus Campaign. “There’s a need to invest ourselves in the institutions that we care for. We have the means to ensure the University’s success and therefore its employees’ success.”

“You can give to a lot of places, but you get a real sense of where your money is going when it’s giving where you work,” says Yves Le Bouthillier, associate professor at the Faculty of Law’s Common Law Section and faculty co-chair of the 2012 Campaign.

Some 40,000 students, more than 6,000 faculty and staff, as well as 2,000-plus retirees make up the University of Ottawa community. This year, let’s unite and get involved. Each gift, big or small, is important because it demonstrates your commitment.
