Congratulations to all our graduates!
This spring, close to 7,500 graduates will receive a diploma, 5,200 of whom will attend the traditional Convocation ceremonies in Southam Hall of the National Arts Centre June 11-14, 2011.
Convocation is a very special event that brings together graduates and members of the University of Ottawa community. For graduating students, it’s a time to celebrate their accomplishments in front of family and friends. For members of the University community, it’s a time to celebrate the efforts of students they have supported during their studies at the University of Ottawa.
During the ceremonies, honorary doctorates are conferred on outstanding individuals. These honorary doctorates are awarded for substantial contributions made by recipients to the University of Ottawa, to their profession or to society at large. Honorary doctorates are an acknowledgement that recipients deserve to be recognized for a life's learning and experience. The addresses delivered by honorary doctorate recipients inspire our graduates.
This year, ten recipients working in various fields, including politics, human rights, education and science, will receive honorary doctorates.
You can take part in all the festivities with family and friends. Just visit the uOttawa Gazette's Flickr site to see and download high-resolution photos of the event, as well as watch video interviews with honorary doctorate recipients.
Congratulations to all graduates, as well as to the honorary doctorate recipients, of the spring 2011 cohort!
