Sylvie Lauzon - Interim Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences

Sylvie Lauzon was appointed Interim Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences on July 1, 2012.

Biography: 

Sylvie Lauzon earned her BSc in nursing from the University of Montreal. She worked in acute care, long-term care and primary health care in Northern Quebec for 10 years before going on to complete a master’s (University of Montreal, 1988) and a PhD (Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, 1995) in nursing.

She became assistant professor and then associate professor at the University of Montreal’s faculty of nursing before joining the University of Ottawa in 2002 as director of the School of Nursing and associate dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

In 2005, Sylvie Lauzon was appointed to the position of associate vice-president, academic, where she was tasked with overseeing francophone affairs on campus as well ensuring the ongoing quality and relevance of undergraduate programs.

Her teaching and research focus on nursing epistemology, elder care and the health and experiences of those caring for elderly persons with dementia or mental health problems.
