Useful Information

The human resource management (HRM) option provides students with an in-depth knowledge of the three HRM functions most critical in organizations: personnel management, labour relations and organizational behaviour. It emphasizes both practical and conceptual skills to enable students to work in all areas of HRM in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

The Honours BCom (option in Human Resource Management) is available in CO-OP and French immersion.

Student Activities

In 2011, the Telfer School of Management team finished first overall at the Symposium GRH for the third consecutive year!

This interuniversity competition united over 300 students from 10 universities in Eastern Canada. The goal of this competition is to measure the expertise, the skills and the knowledge of students in human resource management. This also ensures the development of tomorrow’s leaders.

The Telfer School’s Human Resources Association participates in various competitions and hosts events that provide great networking opportunities for students.

Professional Designations

HRM students can choose specific courses to fulfill the academic requirements of the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation.

I participated in sessions on leadership as a part of the Personal and Leadership Development initiatives. Each week, I attended seminars lead by experienced leaders and professionals!

What do you plan to do after you graduate?

I would first like to work in a field related to my area of study while pursuing a master’s degree. In five years, I would like to be running my own company.
