What is a departmental email account?

A departmental email account is a generic account managed by a recognized University unit. The standards for naming this type of account differ from those applied to personal accounts. Examples of a departmental email account would be generic Faculty or Service accounts such as genie.engineering@uottawa.ca or infoservice@uottawa.ca.

Your account request must be approved by a formal "sponsor," that is, the dean or director or this person's delegate (administrative officer). Account password changes, can be made by the person responsible for the account, with the usual authentication.

A generic user ID is required, so that multiple users can have access to the same account.
An example of a user ID would be wcc, to represent web coordination committee





For Exchange email accounts, you can choose the display name that will appear in the Outlook Global Address List
