Marcel Mérette - Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences

Marcel Mérette was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences February 15, 2010. 

Biography: 

Marcel Mérette holds a PhD in Economics from the Université de Montréal and was a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University. He started his career at the Department of Finance Canada before joining the University of Ottawa’s Department of Economics in 1999. Mr. Mérette’s research focuses mainly on the development of simulation models called “computable general equilibrium models” with overlapping generations structures. In his own research and work, he has used this analytical tool on topics ranging from international trade to population ageing. Following a number of administrative positions within the Department of Economics, Marcel Mérette became Vice-Dean of Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2005. He was Acting Vice-Dean of Graduate Studies prior to his appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences that began on February 15, 2010.
