Louis de Melo - Vice-President, External Relations

Louis de Melo has been appointed Vice-President, External Relations. His mandate began on July 27, 2009.

Biography: 

Louis de Melo is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa in 1994.

Over the course of his career, Mr. de Melo has acquired extensive expertise in the area of development and fundraising. He has held senior positions with a number of well-known organizations in the National Capital Region, including as Executive Director of Ashbury College's Advancement Services, where he led the institution's largest fundraising effort ever. He also held the positions of Executive Vice-President of Corporate Social Responsibility/Resource Development, and CEO of the Government of Canada Charitable Workplace Campaign at United Way/Centraide Ottawa. He has served on the board of directors of a number of organizations, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Role: 

The Vice-President, External Relations, advances the goals of the University in raising the University's profile, in building internal and external alliances and strategic partnerships, and in fund development and revenue generation to support the University in its mission of teaching and scholarship.

The Vice-President, External Relations, is responsible for the activities of the development, alumni affairs, government relations, marketing, communications, and language services, ensuring that they are in concert with the University's mission.
