Our first post..FOUND!

Filed under: Breanna Kolada — jill @ 2:22 pm MDT

Hi! This is Breanna and Jill..because jill’s blog is not working yet we are uniting …now we are JANNA HOLADA. Breanna regretted arriving late but the fun was just about to begin. Last night being the first night there was a great mix of emotions, really excited to finally begin this adventure, but at the same time scared and nervous for the week ahead. As both of us have no idea what it is really like to be homeless we feel unsure of ourselves as we head into the unknown…

At the wee hours of the morning we finally, FINALLY, set up our Sealy Serta cardboard mattress and snuggled in. The excited energy was keeping us all awake, giggling and being antsy, but we were calmed and serenaded by the sweet vocal styling of Ross Tisdale. ( by the way Ross snores) The sleep was great… other then the snoring, the cold, the unevenness of our crates, and the lights that stayed on ALL night!

We were awoken by the news that we were late for our interview and the warm smiles of the teachers who were in the room that we were staying outside of. ( lucky that they also fed us :) )

Holy Moly what an adventure this has been! This is Breanna and Jill coming at you guys together (Jill’s blog isn’t working right, so we will be doing this together!), our first couple days have been filled with excitment and exhaustion. Although we will never truly understand what it is like to be homeless the next couple days will give us a glimpse of what it would really be like.

Breanna: Although I work at the school and usually end up spending a good chunk of my day here, working and going to class, I never disliked being at school so much as I do now. I miss warm, healthy food ( yesterday eating only cookies, onion rings and pop tarts), my loving family ( love you mom!) and most of all… MY OWN BED!!! I love to snuggle when i’m sleeping, but never have i ever had to share a bed with 5 other people. I miss turning my lights off and just falling asleep, no light coming in from surounding buildings, no having to listen to people giggling because they are on sugar highs and not having to worry about people coming up to you while you sleep ( ideas the security guard puts in your head). But we woke to a nice surprise, a bag with two bottles of water, $10 and a bottle of mouthwash! So clean and tired!

Jill:  As i sit here writing this blog the stench of my feet overwhelms the room and it’s only day 2. i’m scared for friday! So far the responses we have been getting from everyone has been amazing! As the week goes on i feel i am becoming more comitted to the project and am so happy that i could be a part of it! Although, if someone pisses me off ……they will be smelling my socks! I MISS LISTENING TO MUSIC
