Paradigm[e]: The Dean’s Gallery

Students in the Department of Visual Arts, under the direction of Antoni Lewkowicz, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and Celina Jeffery, Chair of the Department of Visual Arts, present Paradigm[e]: The Dean’s Gallery.

This permanent exhibition of student art—located in the Dean’s corridor in Simard Hall—provides a space to showcase student art and raise funds for two important initiatives on campus: a Student Art Bank and a new Visual Arts building.

The creation of a Visual Arts Student Art Bank will allow the University to purchase student artwork with the intention of presenting it on campus. In addition, the students are making their own contribution to the new Visual Arts building for the Department, by donating a portion of their sales to this fundraising campaign.

Paradigm[e]: The Dean’s Gallery is open to the public weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

This creative business venture has been developed by a group of eight students in Dr. Celina Jeffery’s fourth year Curating for Contemporary Art course. Paradigm[e], along with Gallery 115 and Epilogue Gallery, are run by and for students under the direction of the chair. The goals of these galleries are to create dialogue between student art and the Ottawa community as well as promoting the Visual Arts programs at the University of Ottawa.
