Diane Davidson - Vice-President, Governance

Diane Davidson was appointed Vice-President, Governance. She began her mandate on August 4, 2009.

Biography: 

A three time graduate of the University of Ottawa, Ms. Davidson is a fluently bilingual strategic leader with broad influence in the public sector, having held positions with Elections Canada since 2000.

Following two years as the Director of Legal Services, Ms. Davidson was appointed Deputy Chief Electoral Officer and Chief Legal Counsel. Prior to 2000, she held various positions with the Department of Justice and the House of Commons.

She is a member of several organizations including the Association of French Speaking Jurists of Ontario, the Executive Advisory Council of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems and the Editorial Board of the Election Law Journal. 

Role: 

The Vice-President, Governance oversees the secretarial and administrative services required for the operation of the Board, the Senate and their committees.

The Vice-President, Governance is the official secretary to the Board and Senate and is an ex-officio member of the Administrative Committee, of the Senate and of all Senate committees. The Legal Services, the University Archives and the Acces to Information and Privacy Office report to the Vice-President, Governance.

Finally, the Vice-President, Governance is one of the University's official signing authorities, including all diplomas conferred by the institution.
