My Prep Week – what is it?

My Prep Week, which lasts three weeks, runs from late August to early September. During this time, you can visit our one-stop shop where you’ll find many of the services you’ll need to start off your year gathered in one convenient location.

Pick up your student loan and/or bursary

Where: Tabaret Hall, Room 112

Before picking up your student loan and/or bursary, consult My Financial Portfolio via uoZone to check the date you can pick up your funds.

In order to receive your loan or bursary cheque, you MUST be registered, present your social insurance number card PLUS one piece of government-issued photo ID (e.g. passport, driver’s licence, Canadian citizenship card or provincial health card).

Get information on your fees and/or your invoice

Where: Tabaret Hall, Room 129 (InfoService)


For the majority of students, tuition fees must be paid on or before Friday, September 2, 2011 (See last day to pay tuition fees without late payment fees). We encourage you to pay online. For more information, visit the Financial Resources website.

You will no longer receive your invoice by mail. You may access your statement of account and e-bill through the uoZone portal,

Get financial aid and awards advice
Where: Tabaret Hall, Room 112

If you have any questions about financial aid and awards, one of our financial counsellors would be happy to help you.

Note: The permanent Financial Aid and Awards Office, located in the University Centre, will be closed from August 24 to September 9. During this time, services are offered in Tabaret Hall, Room 112.

Pick up your student card

Where: Tabaret Hall, Room 112

Only new students need to pick up their student card. Cards are automatically renewed with each subsequent registration so be sure to keep your card for the duration of your studies at the University of Ottawa.

To pick up a student card, you will need to be registered for at least one course and you will need to present official identification.

Buy a meal plan

There are two ways to purchase your 2011-2012 meal plan:

  1. Online (log in to your uOttawa Card account)

  2. In person at the uOttawa card office, UCU room 106.
Once you purchase your meal plan, it will be automatically added to your uOttawa card.

Pick up your universal transit pass (U-Pass)

If you are registered as a full-time student this fall, you may go pick up your U-Pass. For more information, visit the SFUO or the GSAED websites.

Find out about Gee-Gees varsity events and recreation programs

Where: outside 90 University, in the Gee-Gees tent


To get information about this year’s Gee-Gees games and Sports Services recreation programs, including intramurals and fitness, visit the Sports Services tent outside 90 University during My Prep Week, on September 3 and 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Attention first-year students – You can attend the majority of Gee-Gees regular season varsity home games for free. And you have access to a wide variety of recreation programming for free or at discounted student rates. Come visit us in the tent to find out more!
