What event of the School of management are you most likely to attend?

The Accounting Club’s Wine and Cheese event held each fall.

What are you most passionate about in accounting?

My particular interest is in striving to understand when and why corporations disclose certain information in their annual reports—and why they don’t disclose other information. For me, it is all about trying to get into the mind of the managers who make these decisions in order to infer their motivations.

Why is the city of Ottawa an ideal place to study and work in accounting?

The City of Ottawa is a great place to study accounting—especially now. The federal government has a great need for accountants and auditors at the present time. Many not-for- profits and a number of corporate head offices are also located here—and they all need accountants and auditors. Thus there are many opportunities in our well-regarded CO-OP program for placements in Ottawa while you study and many opportunities available in accounting after you graduate.

What would be your advice to future students?

My best advice—which I have given to my own children as well—is to study what interests, intrigues and excites you. If the enthusiasm for your subject is there, enjoyment and success will follow.
