The computer labs are open 7 days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. These labs are available to Social Sciences students except when courses are scheduled. Please consult the timetable posted at the door.
The Faculty of Social Sciences maintains - for its students, - about 120 computers. These machines run applications, such as the Microsoft and Macromedia suites, typically found in business and government offices and students have the choice of w orking in French or English at the onset. Students also benefit from the use of very specialized applications such as SPSS, SAS, AMOS & Nvivo.
Login accounts and passwords are mandatory. You do not need to ask for an account since they are created automatically. Type your user id and Password.
Your user id is the prefix of your email from the University xxxxxx@uottawa.ca
Your initial password is your birthday + 2 last digits of sin # Ex: YYMMDDSS

The Geography network labs in Simard are restricted to students enrolled in Departmental courses only, research labs are by key/cardkey access only. Login instructions are posted on the wall in each lab indicating how to automatically activate your account at the beginning of the semester. If there are any problems, contact the Network Manager in 038C.
All general access and teaching labs have the same software installed and internet access. Research labs (036, 042 and 004) have specialized software specific to their research needs.

The Telfer School of Management (www.telfer.uottawa.ca) maintains - for its students, - about 120 computers. These machines run applications, such as the Micro soft or Macromedia suites, typically found in business and government offices. Students also benefit from the use of very specialized applications such as SPSS & other software for statistical analysis, Stock Market quotation databases, Marketing & Business Game, Simulation software, programming software, etc.
All students receive a private disk space, Internet Access and email accounts. The computer labs, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, are staffed with helpful Network Consultants. All computers run the Microsoft Windows XP Pro system and students have the choice of working in French or in English at the onset.
The brand-new Desmarais Hall has been built to provide students with the best pedagogical experience, including the latest multimedia equipment.
